Between Night and Day

Character(s) Involved: Darklight, Leader of Clan, Darklight's Mate, Close Friend, etc.

Plot Summary: "Between night and day, there is death. Don't forget, don't let your guard down."

Darkpaw's goal since kithood has always been to serve the clan to the best of her ability and create bonds with all of her clanmates. At the top of all this is a growing respect for the clan's leader. But, Dark was born with a destiny, one she is not even aware of... to be one of the ones to take a life from her leader.

A series of rather unbelievable events land Dark in the middle of a decision... to trust the shady cat that saved her life or run far away. Given her too trusting nature, Darkpaw finds herself listening to the tom, and even falling for him (this could be a loner or a clan cat. If clan, she takes them as a mate. If not, she does not).

Little does she know her mate/friend has plans for destruction. A thirst for power or disagreement leads him to want to kill the clan leader and take their spot. In the middle of it all is Darkpaw. As the picture comes together and she realizes what is happening, the apprentice is left to fight her own destiny. Will she abandon everything she is and submit unknowingly to a destiny she was chained to since birth? Or can Darkpaw manage to shape her own future?

Plot Breakdown/Stages:

1. Salvation and Trust: As an apprentice, Darkpaw meets a loner or connects with a clanmate who is known to be more of an outcast. Due to her trusting nature, she finds herself getting closer and closer to them despite several warnings from a close friend who knows of the growing relationship.

2. Instagation: Shortly after her warrior ceremony, newly named Darklight is starting to be torn between two things she values: her friendship/relationship with this tom or her loyalty to her clan and leader. If rogue, this can be in the way of a violent scuffle with clan cats. If clan, an exile or breaking of the warrior code by said cat would likely need to take place.

3. Two Roads Diverged: Caught between the two routes, Darklight struggles to pick and tries to see both sides of the conflict created by the disagreement of her mate/friend and clan. Because of her inability to chose, she attempts to not decide and live with a loyalty to both.

4. Finale: While Darklight has been striving to uphold two conflicting views, mate/friend has been plotting. And now they are ready to kill the clan leader. With the promise of wanting to solve the conflict, mate/friend uses Darklight to lure the clan leader out into a secluded part of the forest. There, they are waiting with a couple of rogues in preparation to murder the leader. Upon realizing what is going to happen as she catches a glimpse of the other cats, she lets out a warning yowl to the leader, but it is too late. The leader is attacked by all three cats at once. Darklight does her best to tear the rogue leader/mate/friend off the clan leader and is engaged in battle. But, the mate/friend slips away and manages to pin down the leader. Darklight slams into him and the two roll off to the side, dealing deathly blows simulaneously. They bleed out together as Darklight fulfills her destiny.

Character(s) Involved: Darkpaw, Mate

Plot Summary:
Darkpaw is a naive and rather friendly Riverclan cat. She is deeply devoted to her clan, but her ultimate goal is to befriend every cat in her clan and get to know some outside of that. Because of this, she meets a tom at a gathering [can be from any clan] and they grow a very close friendship.

After some time, he decides he is deeply in love with her and wants to start a life outside the clans with her. He goes to tell his clan that he is leaving and burns all his bridges before leaving to declare his love to Darkpaw. He finds her and while she is happy to see him, what he has to tell her is less than exciting. Of course, she refuses to leave her clan but is incredibly saddened by the fight that ensues before he takes off to start the new life on his own. Heartbroken, the tom tries to recklessly cross the river and ends up being taken by the current and dies when he falls onto the rocks of the gorge.

Upon finding his body and learning of his death, she is taken over by grief and left constantly wondering if she makes the right decision. Later on, she finds a relationship with a cat inside the clan, yet is still stuck on working through all of the conflicts inside even within her supposedly ideal life.
